Detailed WiFi Setup on ASUS RT-AX88U
Step 1: Connect to the Router
- Physical Connection: Ensure your computer or device is connected to the ASUS RT-AX88U router either via Ethernet cable (preferable for initial setup) or via WiFi using the default wireless settings.

Default WiFi Name: The SSID is usually labeled on the router itself. Look for something like
ASUS followed by a series of numbers.

Default WiFi Password: This is also labeled on the router, typically as
password or a similar identifier located on the label.
Step 2: Access the Admin Panel
- Open Web Browser: Launch your preferred web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc.).
- Enter Router IP Address: In the address bar, type one of the following and press
Enter:

- Login Credentials: When prompted for login details, use the default credentials:

admin - If the default credentials do not work, it is possible they were changed. You might need to reset the router to factory settings using the reset button on the back of the device (press and hold for about 10 seconds).
Step 4: Run the Quick Internet Setup Wizard
- Access Wizard: Upon logging in, you should see the ASUS Router interface. Look for a prompt to run the Quick Internet Setup wizard.
- If it does not appear, navigate to
Home > Setup Wizard in the left sidebar.
- Follow Prompts: Follow the prompts provided by the wizard to configure your internet connection settings. This may involve:
- Selecting your internet connection type (e.g., PPPoE, Dynamic IP, Static IP).
- Entering any required details (like ISP username/password for PPPoE).
- Clicking
Next to proceed through the setup.
Step 5: Configure WiFi Settings
- WiFi Configuration: After completing the wizard, navigate to the WiFi settings:
- Click on
Wireless in the left sidebar.
- Basic Settings: In the Wireless section:

Enable Wireless: Ensure the checkbox is checked to enable the SSID.

SSID: Change the
SSID (network name) to your preferred name.

Region: Ensure it reflects your geographical location for optimal performance.
- Security Settings:

Authentication Method: Select
WPA2-Personal (recommended for home networks).

WPA Pre-Shared Key: Set your WiFi password. Ensure it is strong and secure.
- Advanced Settings (Optional): Scroll down to the Advanced Settings section if you want to configure:

Channel Bandwidth: Adjust between
20/40/80 MHz as needed.

Channel Selection: Set to
Auto for optimal performance or select specific channels if interference is detected.
- Save Changes: After modifying the settings, scroll down and click Apply to save your configurations.
Step 6: Reboot the Router (If Necessary)
- Some settings may require a router reboot to take effect. If prompted, select System > Reboot from the left sidebar, and click Apply to restart the router.
Step 7: Connect Devices to New WiFi
- Disconnect and then reconnect your devices using the new SSID and password you’ve configured.
- Ensure that all devices are successfully connected and can access the internet.
