How to Factory Reset the Netgear RAX80 Router

If you forget your administrator password or experience network glitches, resetting your router to factory default settings will resolve the issue. Note that this wipes all custom network settings, including SSIDs, passwords, and port forwards.

Method 1: Physical Hard Reset (Button)

  1. Ensure the Netgear RAX80 router is powered on.

  1. Locate the physical RESET pinhole or button on the back panel of the device.

  1. Using a paperclip or SIM ejector tool, press and hold the reset button for 10 to 15 seconds.

  1. Keep holding until the LED indicators flash or turn off, then release the button.

  1. Wait 2-3 minutes for the router to complete the reboot cycle. The factory defaults are now restored. Log in using default credentials. Learn more at [router-reset](/router-reset).

Method 2: Software Soft Reset (Admin Console)

  1. Connect a computer to the router via Ethernet and go to 192.168.1.1 in a browser.

  1. Log in to the management panel with your administrator credentials.

  1. Navigate to System Tools > Backup & Restore > Factory Default Restore (or Administration > Restore/Save Settings).

  1. Click the Restore button. Do not shut down the device during the reboot.
